NLA signs joint statement calling for recognition of sustainable and renewable fuels in CO2 regulation for HDV’s

NLA has signed a statement together with 120 stakeholders and 90 scientists calling for renewable and carbon neutral fuels to be considered for compliance in the CO₂ regulation for heavy-duty vehicles (HDV).

This is of key importance to support the objectives of the EU’s Green Deal and enable road transport operators to accelerate the decarbonisation of the commercial transport sector.

As underlined in the letter transport operators and vehicle manufacturers must be encouraged to consider cleaner fuel alternatives to fossil fuels, immediately available today, including liquid and gaseous renewable and synthetic fuels.

The letter also highlights that all technologies are needed, including electrification/hybridisation, hydrogen and sustainable and renewable fuels.
