The Nordic Logistics Association (NLA) is looking for a committed and enthusiastic intern to join our team in Brussels from 1 September 2024 to 31 January 2025.
Are you passionate about European politics and interested in the transport sector? Are you keen to work for better conditions for road transport companies in the Nordic countries? Then we would like to meet you. You will have the chance to work in the heart of European decision making during an exciting time with a newly elected European Parliament during the start of the mandate for the next European Commission.
One of the biggest challenges and opportunities of the coming decades is the transition to a climate-neutral Europe. The intern will work on legislative proposals affecting road transport in a wide range of areas, including policy proposals on transport, environment and energy. In addition, the labour market and the digital agenda are areas that NLA follows closely. The intern will have the opportunity to work independently and take responsibility in these areas in an international environment in the Common Road Transport Office in Brussels that NLA shares with its German (BGL) and French (FNTR) sister organisations.
Responsibilities
- Attend and report from meetings in the European Parliament, stakeholder organisations and conferences in Brussels.
- Carry out research and analysis of EU policy initiatives in collaboration with colleagues in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
- Write newsletters, update website and generate activity on NLA’s SoMe platforms.
- Draft briefing notes.
- Ongoing administrative tasks.
The ideal candidate
- Can navigate the EU bubble.
- Is interested in politics at European and national level.
- Is currently undertaking a degree in social sciences, politics, economics, law or any related field.
- Has good writing and oral skills. Is fluent in English and one or more Nordic languages. Knowledge of other EU languages is a plus.
- Is proactive and thrives on working with a variety of tasks.
We offer:
- A monthly contribution of 1,200 EUR for rent and other expenses.
- Coverage of travel costs, as well as a round trip to your home country during your stay.
- Practical experience of working in the EU system.
- An interesting, dynamic, informal and international workplace with the opportunity to challenge yourself in national and European contexts.
